In 2016, Hasselblad is celebrating its 75th anniversary. The leading medium format camera manufacturer has always stood for outstanding imaging experience, a love of photography, technical excellence, and creative vision, all in sync with the brand promise, ‘Create to inspire’. The Hasselblad Masters is one of the world’s most prestigious professional photographic competitions and gives acclaimed professionals, as well as aspiring newcomers, the chance to make their mark in the world of high-end photography. This years’ competition encouraged over 10,000 entries and the 10 winners were selected by a combination of an expert jury and an online public vote.

The selection criteria encompassed ambition, imagination and photographic skill. Each winner and newly crowned ‘Hasselblad Master’ is then given the task of shooting for the book in line with the theme of ‘Inspire’. In addition to the established categories such as architecture, fashion, and portraiture, street/urban photography was included in the competition for the first time.

Perry Oosting, Hasselblad CEO: „At Hasselblad we’re incredibly proud to give established and emerging photographers a platform to showcase their work. This year we were overwhelmed with not only the number of entries but also the quality of those received. Hasselblad Masters Volume 5 really captures the raw talent and creativity of our chosen Masters and is testament to the flourishing photographic industry worldwide.“
